I know that I already posted about Saturday and the retreat, but I thought I would add some other stuff that happened this weekend! Saturday, we got back and went to church and it was pretty amazing. Dan talked about marriage and even though I am not married, it is interesting how many of the things he said applied to other areas of my life as well. Then afterwards we hung out down in Bud's Place, as usual. The infamous game of Just Dance was played and I took a couple videos of Josh and Allie going head to head. As I was taping I could not help myself from laughing. Allie shows some obvious skill. Josh...well he's getting there! Here are a couple videos from that.
So after that a miracle happened. Kari, Julia and I all hung out together. Alone. For more than 15 minutes! I was sooo excited. I absolutely love the women that have come in my life and I appreciate each and every one of them, no matter how long I have known them. But there is something about being able to talk with women that I have grown alongside of for the last four years that makes it different. We have been trying and trying to find a time and we finally did. We laughed...a lot. I think if we would have been able to hang out longer there would have been tears as well. Then we topped it off with a sleepover in Julia's room. It was great!
On Sunday, I did nursery which I also enjoyed a lot. I feel like most of the time is spent listening to the kids say super funny things with the occasional crying child. One little boy would not stop crying, but he would play for a while. I kind of felt bad for laughing but he would cry and take a ball and go dunk it in a basket over and over again...and never stop crying. It was like his heart was torn between playing and wanting to be with his dad.
After that I went to Starbucks. Then Carol and I went out to her mom's house and had lunch. Chicken tacos with avocado, chili feta and salsa verde. Delicioso! Not to mention Mochi and banana chips for dessert! Her and her mom put in a movie, "Sasquatch", while I read some more. I absolutely love the book of Isaiah. I love how God's character has not changed since the beginning of time. I love that even though we are stupid and rebellious he chooses to save us.
After reading, we went to my parent's house and booked our tickets to Florida! I am sooo excited and thankful that Carol decided to spend the money to come with me. I get to see my aunt and uncle as well as my grandparents. Then I am driving my grandparents back up to Iowa! It should be fun. My mom made us steak with sweet potatoes. I was FULL. After dinner I made the deal of a lifetime with my mom. Ok it wasn't that big of a deal but I am excited! I told her that if I organize all of her pictures then she can get me a new ipod as payment. This is timely as I just spilled a water bottle in my purse and ruined my other one....oops. So that is my latest project. I think it's going to take longer than I thought.
At about nine that night, Carol and I went to Jon and Jenny's house. They are currently remodeling their basement so we were going to help clean...but we ended up just talking. Funny how that happens. We played backrub chain and talked about funny stuff. Then Jon came up and needed help to pull a tube out of some elbow thing. So I helped him and apparently our faces we sooo funny as we were straining to get it out. Next time when he came up I told Carol to video tape us so that we could see our faces. We were disappointed with how easily this tube came out however.
Just a random thought, it's really funny how I haven't had any hypnagogic hallucinations since I started this blog. I kind of wanted to record what happens but I am thankful for their absence!
