So this weekend Grand View Campus Fellowship as well as Drake and DMACC had a spring retreat! It was a little weird to have a retreat in spring, with not as many people and for only one night...but it was still awesome :)
Mark Bowen came and spoke and it was very thought provoking. He talked about healthy relationships and how to have good, joyful relationships with the people around you. God has been teaching me a lot about this lately and he used this retreat as well to shed some light on some lies I have been believing. I loved that he was honest about his own weaknesses and used Jesus as an example throughout all the talks. It helped me to see the human side of Jesus a little more and gave me practical ways to be like him. I can't believe that at the moment that Jesus would have needed his closest friends by him, they betrayed him and denied him. Then when I think about how people have failed me and frustrated me, they don't even compare to that. I want to completely rely on the Lord for all of my emotional stability and comfort. That is definitely something I have been learning the hard way. I am so thankful that God isn't surprised when I come to him and need to vent about what I am thinking about. He can take it. I want to be like David, I desire his honesty and his ability to go to God with everything. Anyway, that was a very small part of what he talked about.
